Experian Data cleansing

Has anyone in the network used Experian for Tessitura database cleansing? They say they have worked with other Tessitura users, and I would like to talk to someone who has gone through this process. They provide e-mail, phone number, and NCOA address checking.

Thank you,

Mohan

  • Matt,

Thank you very much for replying. This is a new process for us. We are cleansing phone numbers, e-mail addresses, NCOA addresses, and duplicates. I wanted to know if you used the NCOA tool for generating outputs for Experian, and then used the tool to import the changes back into the database? Any words of caution, or best practices you can share would be very helpful.

    Thank you,

    Mohan

  • Hi Mohan,

We probably *should* use the NCOA report. But we have software from Experian called QAS Batch, so we have a script that pulls the address data out and puts it into a holding table and we then use QAS Batch to check it against the Australian address database and fix it all up.

The new thing we added was that where QAS can't make an exact match, we add an attribute to that customer's record to say that they have been cleaned by QAS and they can't find an exact match. That way, we can use it as a suppression against other mailings.

We had to do that because the QAS tool will commit changes back to your database, but only for records that are a good match. Whereas, it's also just as important to mark bad addresses that couldn't be matched as well.

It may be that the out of the box NCOA reports will do what you want in terms of getting the data out for a clean and getting it back in, so definitely have a read up on them.
