Websites and Source Codes

We would like to get our website responding to more source codes than the default or a specific promo code being entered, as part of an effort to better report on source codes in general.

Our aim would be to create a small grouping of sources from which patrons could choose (e.g. print/word of mouth/radio).  We are curious if anyone else has done something similar and has positive results to share?  This would be on top of using Offers and pixels.

We would also be curious as to reporting on source codes.  Do any of you use reporting other than the out of the box reports to gain helpful insight about patron buying habits?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hey Brian.

I think Surveys may be an answer to get more targeted source coding through TNEW, but I’m not 100% on that.  I need to do more reading on it.

We too struggle with the analysis of the data through the Appeal and Source response reports and T-Stats.  The plan has always been to use the data to put our advertising dollars to their best use, but I’m not confident the change has been made internally.  It feels like we’re still doing the same thing we’ve done for years.

  • Brian-

We have been fighting an uphill battle against our box office just randomly selecting sources for years now. The unfortunate thing is that it just takes one person to skew data pretty badly.

One piece of advice I would have in dealing with TNEW or the API directly is to loosely attach your source codes to promo codes. This way when  fiscal year ends or a yearly appeal is up for renewal you can just update the source_no and all of the links (Social, etc) will point to the new source.

Manual selection is an option and it can be done via LTR_TNEW_CHECKOUT_SOURCE  for TNEW or in some similar fashion otherwise.
