PAHT File size

What size do you recommend the final .pdf file be for print at home ticketing.

Thanks,

Parents
  • Hi Marty,

I'd recommend getting them as small as you can. Ours range from 110KB to 130KB.

       -Morgan

  • That is what I was kind of thinking also, thanks for confirming it.

  • How are you making your PDF's? I have tried a couple different ways but my file size > 500kb. I have Pro 9.0 and tried making it in there, I have also created it in word then converted it, After the conversion it was 155kb but as soon as I dropped 4 fields onto it , it shot up to over 500 kb. Any ideas what my malfunction is?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Marty,

I use InDesign, then export as a PDF, then add the fields in Acrobat Pro and run it through the optimizer. The only real trick I know of is to use as few fonts as possible. PAHTS seems to be incapable of creating PDFs without embedding all fonts used, even the 14 standard PDF fonts. (The fonts account for the majority of our relatively small 110KB templates.)

    Hope that helps...

       -Morgan

  • Yes that does help, What standard fonts are you using?

  • Hi Marty,

I think we're using Arial and maybe one other... I'd have to dig out the templates to be sure. It doesn't really matter which you use. Just don't use lots of different fonts. 1 or 2 at most, I'd say.

       -Morgan

  • Hmm, I went from Arial to Times New and it dropped from 600 kb to 150 kb. I will have to try that again because we prefer Arial.
