EMV Card Reader Set-up

We just finished installing our Vx805 EMV card readers for card-present transactions. However, I'd also like to set them up to enter the card numbers in card-not-present transactions. Unfortunately, I can't find a guide from Verifone on how to do that. The most I've found are notes to contact your software company for help.

Has anyone successfully set-up Vx805 readers to manually enter card numbers? If yes, can you share with me your instructions on how you did it?

Thanks!

  • Hello Sarah,

I've found that with both the VeriFone vx805 and mx915 EMV devices will prompt you to manually enter a card number when you press the red X button on the device.  The device will display Cancelled and then prompt you for a transaction type Credit/Debit, Card/Account number, expiration date, zip code, and amount verification.  Please note that this is still an EMV transaction and is initiated in the usual fashion and processed via Vantiv triPOS service.

Manual entry is allowed by default with the triPOS service but if you find it is not for some reason, check the device's specific lane node in the triPOS.config - property "isManualEntryAllowed", true is the default.
