Windows 2008 Enterprise Terminal Server

Hi all,

We are experiencing some very odd issues with Terminal Services for Windows 2008.

Our setup is pretty straight forward

2 Dell servers with Windows 2008 Enterprise joined in a NLB loadbalanced scenario with TS session broker to allow us to track RDP sessions and for people to be able to log back on to their old RDP sessions.

Print driver setup: Easy Print driver on Windows 2008 with GPO to find suitable driver last if easy print driver can't be used for existing printer.

Problem:

When logging on to the terminal service, tessitura hangs after login procedures are complete but only when we redirect printers through the RDP. if we don't redirect the printers then tessitura runs perfectly.

I'm looking for advice/help on this matter so we can deploy the new tessitura terminal servers..

As a side note, I have "disabled" the Easy print Driver to do a process of elimination but problem still remains...

Thanks!

Doug

  • Hi Doug,

This might not be the same issue as we were getting a n_powerprinter system error message, but we encountered an error when an admin user logged onto Tessitura on the Terminal Server, due to the number of printers they had access to.  There is a setting in T_DEFAULTS that resolved this issue for us, here are the details from the System Defaults Description document:

    PRINTER LIST METHOD (added v8.0)

This is an internal setting which controls the method used to read the Window printer list.  If an n_powerprinter system error is received on startup, it may help to add this setting with a value of PW.  Alternately individual workstations can be controlled by adding this entry to the [Defaults] section of the local ini file: PRINTER_LIST_METHOD=PW

    Cheers
