Hi
Just wondering if anyone has been able to setup the Tessitura report server to run as a service on a server.
The problem is getting the report server to start automatically when the server restarts after Windows Updates have been applied. I have tried a few things but none of them seem to work.
Any pointers or advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers

We are told the RAMP team actually does this internally, but it is not for the faint of heart.
The best I came up with is a SQL Agent job that sends me an email whenever it notices the report server is NOT running. I have a hunch that with some PowerShell or vbscript wizardry you could turn this into something that quits and reopens gsrbatch.exe inside the user session whenever it triggers, but I am not that wizard.

Back in 2011 I got some screen shot guidance on how to set this up from a RAMP staffer after the idea of running the Report Server as a service was presented at TLCC2011 in the Mini Magic session, if I recall correctly. I'll send the Doc to you offline.
I would love to have a solution to this problem. Please let me know what you find.

MJ

Do you still have this report? The conference archives don't go back to 2011. If you do have it, can you please email it to me? Thanks.

Will do.
I'd love to have this document as well! Or to hear if anyone has found other ways in the last two years to accomplish this.
Sure. Will reach out offline.
Hello. Since the report server has a GUI, it cannot be set up as a service unfortunately. I got around this by creating a standard user domain account, and having that domain account auto-login to the server. I then put the report server shortcut in the users startup folder.
Now when the server restarts for any reason, that domain account logs in and fires up the Report server application.
Like I said.. this solved it for me... not that pretty though.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Ah, but it can. We've been running it as a service for years. I can send more info offline, if you like.
That would be amazing. Send it my way you IT wizard you!
