Tracking employee training

Good evening!

I am looking for a better way to track employee training. We have a large team of part-time staff, with a lot of comings and goings. I create most our organization-specific training documents, but the actual face-to-face training is usually done by one of several part-time supervisors or veteran employees. It can get complicated to keep track of which employee has been trained on what details by whom.

Does anyone have a system that works well for your team? One that doesn't involve monster spreadsheets?

Thanks,

Jennifer :)

  • I also have been looking into using Plans for tracking training.  We are also looking into creating a Tessitura certification program as well.  I have played around a bit in our test environment and would love to hear if others are looking into using plans as well.

If there was a presentation at the Conference does anyone know where to find it in the archives?

Here is what I have done so far:  Because Plans use campaigns I created a campaign named Training.  I thought I could also create designations for specific areas of training in our organization if needed.  I created Status such as Session Assigned, Session Completed, Session Cancelled, Certified Level 1, Certified Level 2, etc.  Like Designations, Plan Source could also be used to segment types of training.  For my step type I have, Assigned, Completed, Cancelled, Declined.  I was planning on using Step Notes to record what type of training was assigned and also attach any documents assigned or links to webinars.  That's about a far as I've played with it.

  • After doing some initial poking around in Tessitura, my hunt took me a different direction. Other departments who are not Tess users also expressed a need to track training, so we've been looking into some different LMS options that could be used across our organization. In particular, we've been in discussion with NonProfitReady+.

I am still interested in the Tess option, as a possible stop gap solution for our cashier training until a larger organization-wide option can be implemented. So thanks for the thoughts and discussion!

  • Hi Jennifer,

Just wondering your experiences with your LMS.  We are looking at an LMS for our academy (priority to video capability) and were interested in any Tess org's toughts.

    Cheers,
