printing tickets from a PRT file

We have a Boca that is inexplicably stalling on us.  We’re trying to develop a safety-net system so we can re-print the same batch of will-call tickets if/when the printer stalls.  I thought I could print the batch to file (saved as a .prt file), and then print the tickets from there.  If the batch stalls, all I have to do is re-print from the file.  But I can’t figure out how to get the file to print.  Dragging and dropping the file onto the appropriate print-driver gives me an error: “This file cannot be printed.  Please try opening the file with the correct application and printing from there.”  Anybody have success printing tickets on a Boca from a .prt file?

  • If you want to send a print file to a Boca the printer would either have to be directly connected or mapped to a LTP or COM port.  Then you do a DOS copy command to copy the file to the LPT or COM port.

As an alternative (and not a very good one).  You could also check the "Keep Printed Documents" checkbox in the Advanced Tab of the printer setup.  Then all of the jobs would be printed and held.  That way you would be able to reprint a job from the print spooler if necessary.  Just remember all of the jobs use up disk space so go in a delete the jobs after you have a successful print.
