Security permissions needed to generate another's list

Is there a security setting which will allow a user (or user group) to generate another user's list?

  • Hi Dot,

Happened to be in the list documentation and found this:

Lists can only be edited by the users who created them and users who have system administrator rights. When users do not have security access to a list, they can view the contents of the list, copy the list, and use the list in reports and utilities, but cannot edit list properties, edit or regenerate list contents, or delete the list.

It is possible to give users the rights to regenerate the contents of lists to which they do not have edit rights by granting access to the Generate a List utility. Lists may also be copied by any user.

Additionally, lists can be assigned to control groups. When a list is assigned to a control group, only users belonging to the control group can view and use the list.

    Hope that helps.

    Susan

  • If you just want to generate someone else's list then they could use the Generate a List Report.

  • Ah ha!  We were trying to regenerate from within List Manager, but the utility works just fine.

    Thank you!
