NScan Scanner Customization

Hi There,

First off: This was posted in a previous forum but that was from 2010 and it wasn't resolved. I copied and pasted most of the question (because Tessitura said I didn't have sufficient access rights to reply) so that this could get readdressed.

We've been using N-Scan for the last season but have faced a few challenges. I recognize that these may be resolved with better training, but we use mostly volunteers who are on a large rotation.

I've been asked about the following options in N-Scan:

- Custom sounds/notifications
- Confirmation of a good ticket beyond the audio

When our lobby is full, it is difficult at times for ticket takers to hear/notice failed, and even successful scans. We have tried using Bluetooth earpieces/headsets but it's too clunky, doesn't look great, etc.

On consecutive successful scans, only the patron's name changes on the scanner (there's no other visual indicator of a successful scan), so if they don't hear the successful audio, they're likely to not realize they have, scanned the ticket successfully. So they re-scan, which produces a "ticket already scanned" error; then, they aren't sure if there is a valid problem, or if they actually scanned it twice. If a patron has two or more tickets, they are likely sitting in the same row with seats next to each other that doesn't provide enough of a difference between the tickets.

Has anyone else found a way to address these kinds of issues? I'm not trying to eliminate work from our Ushers, I'm trying to make their job somewhat fool-proof.

Thanks.
