Hi everyone,
We’re working on cleaning up some of our duplicate records and came across something kind of strange when we tried to schedule a pair.
After entering the Keep ID and the Delete ID in the merge scheduler area, the Household Merge Helper opens up. In the top half, with the Household to Delete information, one of the constituents had an alert stating that it “…is already involved in other scheduled merges, which will not occur if this household merge is saved”. It was a slow day for merges, so it was easy to check the list and see that the constituent was not scheduled already as far as we could tell. Just to be safe, we didn’t schedule this merge that day. We looked at it again the next day, after the report had run, and saw the same thing. Because we knew that this constituent was definitely not scheduled already we went ahead and scheduled it, despite the alert, and it merged just fine.
Not ready to let this go, I investigated this further. We had noticed that the constituent who had the alert was involved in a merge several months ago. Going off that idea, I tried a few more records that had previously been involved in a merge. Sure enough, the alert is present when any constituent in the Delete record had been involved in a merge, even though the merge was successfully completed at some point in the past.
I checked the Known Defects list and didn’t notice anything quite like this. Has anyone else out there seen this behavior?
Thanks,
Jenny
This definitely sounds like unexpected behavior. If you would, please open a support ticket so the issue can be routed, if necessary, to Network Development for a fix.
Thanks!
