We, meaning me, are setting up our first Kiosk. We used the Tessitura VAR for the hardware so you would think it would be smooth. So far not so.
I would love the opportunity to chat with someone, anyone, who has implemented one of these. The documentation is very lacking and my "go-live" deadline is quickly approaching. I've managed without any help to get everything rolling except the printing and credit card reader.
Support has been slow to respond.
I finally had to install v7.5 and then I was able to get things working. Part of the issue is that there was an additional DLL that needed to be registered. This was documented in 7.5 and dropped in v9.
I hope to work on v9 after our fall season concludes!
I'm trying to install version 9 again. I got a new version from Tessitura support. It isn't working either. Very disappointing.
Anyone have any guidance from the error of "Failed to validate component: AppConfig"?
v9.0.2 was released to us as a fix and showed great promise in my testing. The printing and credit card reader work at the same time! Hurray!! I moved it to live and with some help from TS was able to claim it a success! Hurray again!!!
(*Fade to a week later and our first performance where the kiosk equipment is to be used for will-call tickets*)
Everything was working great until processing credit cards for will-call (The #1 function for us). With each swipe another .exe is launched and never closes. The machine finally cried uncle and stopped accepting credit cards and very UNgracefully gave the patron a nasty java error. Patrons and the Box Office staff were not happy which in turn made me very unhappy (not the you can tell.).
Tessitura Support is still trying to unravel the issue with the VAR, POP. As always with POP they move at a glacial pace and seem to be anything but helpful or concerned for the usefullness of their product.
I would NOT recommend 9.0.2 in a live environment.
FYI: To date I've only heard from one other Tessitura Kiosk user and her story is a lot like mine. Her's is 3 years old.
Come on v9.0.3!!!
