My First SSRS Report - Conection Error

I am building my first SSRS report and published it to our ssrs site. Building the report was fine and preview works but I am getting the following error when trying to view the report.

  • An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
    • Cannot create a connection to data source 'Tessitura_Live'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
      • For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

Any help would be appreciated

Check the authentication of the data source. Make sure your credentials are correct. Also, in the server explorer you can double click the server you want to connect to. I’m guessing a credential error as that is what I’ve seen.

I ended up selecting edit in report builder from the SSRS website and selecting the proper data source.

  • Jason,

What I would assume is happening is that the data source in your custom report solution is named Tessitura_Live, but the data source saved on your report server is named something else. If you match the name in your solution to the name of the data source on your report server this should alleviate the problem in the future.

If you have more than one data source saved on your report server, you will likely need to create corresponding data sources in your report solution.

  • Thanks Chris

Yes, there is a lot of inconsistencies in the what everything is named.
