Hi all,
We just had customer contact us regarding a problem registering on our website. It appears they had booked previously over the phone and a our box office had created an account for them with their email address but not added a login to their account. Consequently when they tried to register they were told their email already existed in the system however if they tried to reset their password they were told no login could be found for them.
Is there a way of adding a login to an existing constituent through the API so I can build in an automated remedy for the problem to avoid stressed customers and harassed box office staff?
Thanks
You might want to see if you could have an interceptor running at the point were an email address is created, which would create the associated login.

Hi Huw,
We automatically assign logins to everyone with an email address who doesn’t currently have a login. We don’t send them anything we just create it so they can then use the “forgot password” functionality to get their password reset. There is a solution on TASK that we shared to auto assign logins. I think called Assign Usernames. We run this as a job every 30 minutes.
Without having an existing login, we find customers creating dupe accounts, memberships appearing on the wrong account, etc.
