We are finally ready to upgrade to version 11 and I have a question about family foundations. We would love to make these a member of the household. Has anyone done this successfully? How did you set that up? We think it makes more sense to have it as a part of the household, so that the contribution history would show up all under the household. We never send the foundations separate mailings or anything, so they don't really need another whole account.

We haven't yet implemented this in our live system, but since reading your post we've begun testing this in our dev environment. So far it works perfectly for solving major problems we were having with paying pledges on household accounts with Family Foundation checks. In order to accomplish this, we had to convert the constituent type from Organization to Individual, then add the foundation account as an affiliate to the household. We're now testing to see what ramifications that will have on our list pulling, but it looks very promising!
One thing to note, you mentioned you're going to version 11... we are on version 12.1 where you can select an "Initiator" for a gift during gift entry. This seems to be crucial to whether a new gift appears in the contributions tab for all affiliated accounts on the household (A1, A2 and the foundation account) or just on the A1/A2.
