How do you use dashboards?

Ok, last post of mine for the day.  :)  As you can probably tell, we've hit the implementation phase where people are getting a good understanding of what the software does and are now starting to ask fabulous questions around how to make it work best for AMNH.

I would love to hear how you're using Dashboards in your organization.

  • Who has access?
  • Who does setup (e.g. do you give access to assistants to set them up for executives, does everyone set up their own, or does all of that stay within IT)?
  • Do you find most users access Dashboards within Tessitura or from a browser?
  • Which widgets are most useful and why?
  • Have you created any custom widgets that are AMAZING?
  • Have you found actionable uses for Dashboards are they used more as an overall 'temperature' check?

Thank you again to everyone in this awesome community for all the help!

  • Hi Kjersten, please find my answers below:

    • Who has access? – IT has full access, and end users can only create new dashboards & update their own dashboards
    • Who does setup (e.g. do you give access to assistants to set them up for executives, does everyone set up their own, or does all of that stay within IT)? – Initial setup (when new widgets gets released) and system table updates are always done by IT, IT also creates new widgets; end users only create new dashboard and update their own dashboard; executive setup is done by relevant department power users or by IT,  it depends on the setup complexity
    • Do you find most users access Dashboards within Tessitura or from a browser? – Regular users from within Tessitura when on the local network and from browser when they access dashboards from internet; Executives always (whether they are on the local network or internet) access dashboards from browsers, it’s easier for them in that way
    • Which widgets are most useful and why? –Contributions, Membership, Packages and Tickets related widgets because they show the health of the company’s bottom lines
    • Have you created any custom widgets that are AMAZING? We have created a few, not sure if their amazing J Most are SSRS report based widgets and I am not very excited about them
    • Have you found actionable uses for Dashboards are they used more as an overall 'temperature' check? Mostly as an overall ‘temperature’ check, and few are to replace regular SSRS reports  - these are mostly for executives who find it easier to check a widget than digging into Tessitura to find the appropriate report

    Hope this helps.
