Couple of simple questions,
First, if you have a payment method marked as cvv required and I swipe the card, do I still need to enter the cvv code?
Second, How do others handle when you take a credit card # but won't process it until a later time? My concern is being PCI compliant by not storing the Cvv code but still being able to process orders or contributions at a later time.
Thanks,
Marty
Hi,
From what I know, if you swipe the card with a regular reader, the encrypted card number is enoough to override the CVV. Likewise, if you use Chip & Pin, it will of course override also.
I am not sure, however, if you can store the swiped card number anywhere else than the payment box, and that implies you would have to process the card info there and then, otherwise you'd lose the info.
Hi Marty,
Great questions! I was asking myself the same thing regarding the CVV required on swipe. Did you end up finding an answer to this?
John
I got one response stating that they thought that if you swipe that you may not have to enter the code. but no response on part 2.

Thanks Bob,
We currently do store the Credit card in Tessitura through the transaction tab. Some of the fundraising events we do, we offer a "precheck". This is when the donor comes in at the beginning of the event and gives us the credit card # that they want to use for the nights activities. We keep track of any auction items they have won and such and charge their Credit Card at the end of the night or the next day but the customer does not have to check out with us since we already captured their #. The question is that since you cannot swipe the card into the transaction tab and cannot store the Cvv code (PCI). When we do decide to process the cards, will we be required to supply a Cvv # on those cards that we hand keyed in?

You will not need to enter the cvv code when swiping a card as you heard, Marty. As for storing the credit card number for future use, the question is whether you now store credit card numbers in Tessitura (for future use or for use with the various billing schedules)? If so, and knowing that Tessitura is PCI compliant with the way it stores credit card numbers, users with the proper permissions could enter the card for a customer in Constituents on the Transactions/Credit Cards screen so that it would be available when making a payment for the customer. If you know the product or pledge they will be making but want to bill them later, you can enter the card number when booking the pledge or entering the order and then bill the customer at the appropriate time with Ticket Order, Invoice or Pledge Billing. Then destroy the source document with the card number written on it!

This helps out a lot, thanks, Can I ask one more simple question??
If I set the Tessitura CVV to "yes or no" but have Transcend set up with "Participates in Holding if CVV Failed" Â as true, The transaction will only fail if I send it a bad CVV. If I don't send one at all, Transcend will ignore it?

If the payment methods you use to finally process these cards have the "Use CV2" set to "Required" then yes, you will need to supply the Cvv number when keying in the card number or selecting it from accounts on file. If the "Use CV2" setting is "Yes" or "No" then you will not need to supply the Cvv code when the charge is processed.
