Has anyone utilized a way to text patrons show information? Is it possible through Tessitura?
Is anyone doing this? our school is wanting to add this feature - and I figure it would be useful to Box Office when we get "flurries" in Atlanta!
My brain wants to say this could be done. Since a text message is essentially an email (I know this from researching how to send text alerts based on NCAN scans), you could theoretically figure out the email address of cell phone numbers and make that a contact point purpose. I'm just typing this thought out so this could be all wrong.
You're correct... the difficult part of this is that you would need to know who their provider was to determine the email address. The addresses are typically in a '#########@txt.att.net' format. Functionally, if you know the address, it's just a different way to receive an email (as Chris says).
