I never do promotions, but was asked what may actually be a very simple or mundane procedure involving promotions.
Our Development contact has promoted a source to a list, and has since developed a new list to which she would like to promote that same source. Is this possible? If so, what is that method so I may show her?
Thank you, Tessiturians
Hi Matt,
I don't know if there's a way to promote a source to additional contacts once it's been promoted. (I don't think so but I could certainly be wrong!)
My instinct is that it would be a better practice to use a second source on the same appeal, but if it's really important that they all have the same source, you could use the Delete Promotions and Sources utility (in the Campaign and Appeal folder) to delete the existing promotions and then promote to the full group. I would be cautious with that, though--you might want to check the report documentation and do some testing to make sure you don't create any unforeseen side effects. For example, I suspect that if you've already entered any contributions to the original source, they'll still reflect that source even after you run the utility. On our system the Delete Promotions utility is only available to users logged in as an administrator .
