It seems that User Defined Format from a List outputs some data maintained only on affiliated individual accounts, for instance when there is a purpose checked that is set as a parameter, but the output doesn't seem consistent or else fails to update properly for recent changes. This bug/feature has proved spooky and unreliable in practice. Has anyone else seen this and if so, figured best way to take advantage?
Thanks!
Hi John
I tried to recreate the issue you mention but have not been able to.
When I output from a list and I have a purpose selected in the parameters I get the appropriate address. For example, The inherited address from the Household has a purpose of ticketing and the affiliate has a secondary address with Bills as the purpose and I have selected Bills as my purpose for my output. Then I get the secondary address for my affiliate (it has the Purpose) and the regular household address for my Household (the default address). If I had the purpose of Magazine as my parameter for User Defined Output From A List, and none of the addresses had that purpose, then the Household and the Affiliate get the Household address.
If this is not what you are seeing, I would suggest you put in a Support ticket so you can get to the bottom of it.
Cheers
Sandra

Thanks for confirming that the report normal behavior is to drill into affiliate accounts based on purpose vis-a-vis parameter, Sandra. It works that way for us, too, but only on vintage data.
If there is a change to a purpose (to add or remove one) the output of the report updates to reflect the change only days later. We can't update purpose(s) and then immediately rerun the report and find that change reflected in the output. Can you?
I haven't been able to nail down exactly how long it takes; it seems inconsistent, but in any case at least a couple of days. I'm assuming there's a cache somewhere. I've tried running on separate workstations with different logins, and by that I think I eliminated that it's an issue local to the workstation or login-user.
Thanks, again.
John
Yes I can update purposes and it shows straight away. I had to do that to test out what you described. I just did it again in case I missed something. I changed the purpose on an address and re-ran the report and that Individual then got the HH address and not their address (expected). I changed the Purpose on the report to match what I had changed it to on their address – re-ran it and then I got the individual’s address (expected).
If the HH and Individual both have addresses checked with the same purpose when you run the report, the HH address will be output for the Individual if the HH address is the inherited Primary Address, which is correct.
So I would definitely submit a support ticket so you can figure out what’s happening.
