Contribution note verification test?

A colleague in Development was trying to enter a note on a contribution in the constituents module.  She was given an error "Item 'xyz' does not pass the validation test."

It seems to be related to the length of the note.

Does anyone know where the character limit can be changed, and if so are there any repercussions to consider before making this change?

Or am I wrong about this error being related to character length?

Thanks,

Kanani

    Hey Kanani -

That's most likely it. The character limit is 255 - and that's a hard limit. You can't expand it monkeying with the underlying standard tables.

If we have a crazy huge note that we want more space on we sometimes will create a CSI and in the Contribution note say - 'Shortened version here - see CSI #### for full note'
