Gift Card sent by E-mail indicator in Reports

In the Report: Gift Certificate Batch Printing, I am trying to find a way to label the gift cards that are being sent via e-mail, to eliminate them from being reprinted and used twice. Are there any indicators that I can use to segregate between the e-gift cards and the gift cards being printed? Thank you in advance!

  • Hi Matthew -

That report can be run off a list, so if you have a way in list manager of pulling those that are Mail only you could easily filter on that. Not sure how you are marking them in the order, but there's a place to start!

  • Hi Heather -

Thanks for your response. This is what our Gift Batch report looks like (minus the blurry parts). You'll notice that you cannot determine the gift card was sent via email. Any ideas on how I would mark them as "sent via email" in the order?

  • Hi Matthew -

To answer your 'how would I mark them as sent via email' in an order, I'd simply mail a new delivery method for that (or you might already have one) and you could mark them that way.  This may not fit in your business practices, so take it with a grain of salt.

In order to go any further I'd have to know more about what you are actually trying to do - are you trying to do this for gift certificates that you've sold historically? Or are you trying to set up a procedure for from now on? I was assuming that you somehow already flagged an order as email deliverable (e.g. in the Delivery drop down), but this might not be the case.

In either case, the report won't tell you if something has been emailed or not, what I was saying was that you could run a list based off whatever criteria you wanted and run the report only for people in the list.

Delivery Method is *NOT* a standard list criteria - so you'd have to get your organization to make a custom keyword in order to pull it in a list. Gift Certificates are a little tricky because they aren't an actual performance, so some of the regular reports that would help you find delivery won't work.

I also might be over thinking this - so if someone has a better idea, please pipe in!
