Donor Lifecycle Reporting

Hello All,

I'd like to develop a report, or a series if need be, that shows how many of our donors are in the various stages of the donor lifecycle (current donor, lapsing donor, lapsed, retained, acquired). I've seen two iterations of this in Blackbaud's NXT program and am curious how close we can get in Tessitura.

The goal is to be able to generate a list of constituents within each stage for outreach.

Does anyone have experience setting up something similar? Would love to hear about your approach to this.

In the screen grab below (from a Blackbaud dashboard) the pie chart represents a real-time snapshot. The line graph shows these lifecycles over time.

  • Hi Josh, while I haven't created this specific report, I feel your best bet would be to use the Memberships cube in Analytics and use a combination of the Status field (Active, Awaiting Payment, Deactivated, Inactive, Lapsed and Pending) as well as the New/Renew/Reinstate Status field, since it looks like you want to be able to track both of those sets of info. I did a test of this in Analytics and created a bar chart with the X Axis showing the different status options, but each bar color-coded to match the appropriate New/Renew/Reinstate Status:

The Y Axis is set to show the number of unique constituent IDs in each section. I've made it a jump to enabled chart and tied it to a pivot table widget set to pull the constituent ID and name, so if I right click one of the bars and choose that jump to option it will pull up that information about the constituent and allow me to save it to a list.

Does this help you with the issue you're trying to solve?

  • Hi Colleen, this is a very helpful response and I appreciate you taking the time to test your idea! I'll ask our data department about the Memberships cube and whether this might be a solution. I do like that you've tied it to a pivot table so a list can be pulled very easily.
