Finding members who gave a donation while they were members

Hello!

I'm feeling a bit defeated over this one and I need the hive mind to help crack it. I'm trying to see how many of our members also give straight up donations, and see how that might have changed over the years, or times of year. I can't think of how to marry the membership info with contribution date. I keep coming back to using something about them giving a donation fund gift within 12 months of a membership gift, but I don't know how to write that, and would that even work if I want to look at current and past fiscal years.

Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction? This could be an interesting thing to monitor and possibly use for picking out people to solicit for upgrades!

  • So just to clarify, you want to see members of a particular organization who have made donations to a different campaign that is not associated with a membership? My suggestion would be to use one as a criteria set to generate a list and make it accessible to Analytics, such as a list of all active members of a particular organization. Then you can create an analytics dashboard that looks at donors who donated to a different campaign, and then use your list as a filter so it will only show you donors who are also members on that list. Only downside to using lists is that when the list is uploaded to Analytics each day, it does not recount the data. You will need to schedule an Execute output set report each night to recount your list. Also, if you make any changes to your list, like add criteria for membership level, those changes wont be reflected in Analytics till the next day.
