Hi all,
I'm trying to do some reporting, and extractions seemed best. I'm getting a bit jumbled, however. I want to pull two lists:
I thought I could do an extraction by pulling in the different campaigns, suppressing out Board / President's Council (by constituency).
Then I wanted to invert the Board/PC supression, by pulling in the different campaigns, and suppressing everyone who isn't Board or President's Council. The numbers were weird, and the spot-checks of the resulting list showed people who were not on the Board. The segment/suppression setup didn't work.
How would y'all set up that extraction?
What I ended up doing was pulling a list of everyone who gave to those campaigns, Output Set-ing their Constituencies, and filtering out (in Excel) the list as needed. That seemed to work, but I felt there had to be a more elegant way of doing things. I couldn't figure out how to make the logic of it fit with the results I was getting. I couldn't properly translate the logic into segments, in other words.
Extraction:
Did that not work? The first should be all Board/Council members, and the second won't have them because they're already in the first segment.
Oh interesting. I hadn't thought to pull segments into multiple lists like that. My extraction experience isn't much to speak of at this point. Will try that out!The logic would be like this:
1. Segment 1 = 'everyone who gave to X, Y, or Z campaign AND is board / PC'
2. segment 2 = 'everyone who gave to x , y, z campaign' (who isn't already in segment 1)
is that right?
That's right, each segment implicitly suppresses customers already extracted before it.
