Standard Operating Procedures for Database Managers

Hi  there,

I am curious about what other art organizations have in place regarding their data procedures and just daily routines that help keep the development afloat. So, please send me any recommendations you may have, I am open eyes, and ears!

Thanks,

  • We partner pretty closely with box office on constituent record maintenance; they handle merge requests for us and are generally the lead on in-house addressing standards.

We did at one time have an Analytics dashboard designed to catch common Development data errors we knew would cause us trouble. It was mostly pivot table widgets with filters set for things like gifts booked in Indiv campaigns and CFG Appeals (and another for the opposite) or Plans which had a received amount but a status which didn't make sense for that. It was actually pretty good for identifying small nit-picky items which can become grains of sand in the gears, but that tool--like anything else--was only as good as the staff who had bandwidth to use it.
