Promoted Source num_contacts counts in Analytics?

We use Analytics to track our appeals, including the responses to each source.

However, I don't see any Analytics option of No. of Contacts from Appeals and Sources promoted to each source. Is it really not included in any of the cubes? Without it, we are not able to use Analytics to evaluate our success against each promoted source segment of our mailings and other efforts—we cannot see what we sent out and can't do average gift per piece sent, etc.

As far as I can tell, num_contacts is in TX_APPEAL_MEDIA_TYPE just like source name and number which do get pulled into Analytics into all cubes except Plans. I would like them!

Am I overlooking where they live or are they really not available in Analytics?

Why not just use Revenue by Source and Appeal? Because people like Analytics!

  • I think this might be because Seats and Tickets generally only pulls in information once a transaction has actually taken place so it doesn't speak to things like promoted source until someones actually made a purchase against that source? We aren't on V16 as yet but I wonder if this is coming in the interactions cube!

You should be able to get the info about people who HAVE transacted against the source but that missing piece of the puzzle in terms of no of contacts promoted I don't think is going to come out of seats and tickets Disappointed

  • Thank you. That's a good point that sources with no transactions don't make it into Analytics at all. I would be happy with the ones that do so I could at least track performance by source even if it doesn't reflect the overall appeal. And yes, I could only ever use it escaped, EX: SUM ([Source ID], [MAX Num_Contacts]) but that would be good enough for me.

Contacts do not seem to be in the Interactions cube based on the documentation. I really think this is worth adding.
