Hello! For starters, I know enough to be dangerous in Analytics. While I'm not a programmer, know zilch about SQL, I do have a few dashboards that I've either gotten help from a former colleague (a fancied up version of a Tess OOB renewals dashboard) or managed to build myself (we do car & trip raffles, so I built a dash to track performance sales). I'm currently doing a very manual YOY analysis in Excel of our various source groups (Acquistion, Additional Gift, Lapsed, On-Air Fundraising, Renewals, Vehicle Donations, Matching Gifts, etc) by Appeal Category (Direct Mail, On-Air Pledge, Email, Call Center, etc) YOY by exporting Revenue by Source and Appeal Reports and creating pivot tables. I'd love to get it into a dashboard format in a way that our SVP can easily see where we're underperforming, so we can put more resources to that area. Has anyone created a dashboard to track these metrics?
So, to summarize:
Thank you!
Hi Katie,
Are you looking at ticket revenue, contributions, or everything? I think you can very easily get revenue by source group and appeal category. Depending on which cube you start with, you should be able to create a pivot table with source group as the rows and appeal category as the column, and then whatever ticket or contribution about you're looking at as the value?
Just contributions! Since we're public media, we have limited ticketing (raffles - that don't generate a membership). I played around with it a bit more and have been able to create a dash that has a pivot table as you describe above (thank you!) and also individual bar graph widgets for each appeal category that we track. I'll do a walk through with my SVP soon to see if it works for her.
