Analytics - changing time frames - a way to shift between day/week/month

I've built lots of dashboards looking at things like order date - is there a way to filter a dashboard to change the widgets to change between showing data on a day/week/month/year view?

Like I'd want to see the past three months, but instead of seeing all the data as monthly i might want to see what's happened by week/day - is there a way to do this without just building more widgets for different time frames?

Many thanks,

Brodie

  • Hi Brodie,

    As a share recipient on such a dashboard, someone who is only a Viewer and can't edit widgets, they can right click and drill into more granular time periods:

       ===>

    As a designer, edit the widget and click on the date "type" icon to the left of the field name. This opens a drop down of other time periods. Then click Apply. This works even as a share recipient as long as the dashboard has been shared with Can Edit permissions. If you're making this change as the owner, Republish to update the share recipients.

  • Hi Chris,

    Thanks that's helpful but not really what i was trying to get at. This is more that we've several KPIs that we track over time. Rather than just being able to edit the time frame of a single widget - i'm wondering if there's a way to get a whole dashboard to toggle between Day/week/month view etc.

    So for example, i want to look at ticket income for this financial year. I've built my widgets to split data by month.

    (indicative - the actual dashboard has a further 30 or so widgets)

    I regularly change to day/week view etc to interrogate the data further.

    For example:

    but it would be really useful to be able to change the time frames shown for the whole dashboard, not just the one widget.

    Any ideas? I seem to spend my life going in and out of widgets changing the time frames being displayed.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Brodie,

    There's nothing easy in the front end to change all the widgets that use date fields on their axis to switch the grain of those dates with one change. I recommend creating a dashboard per grain. If you have a javascript developer on staff, there might be a way to have a dashboard widget that, when its grain is changed, triggers all the widgets that use that field to also change their grain. I can provide Sisense documentation resources in support of widget scripting if that would be helpful.
