I have a line chart which shows a running sum for fundraising against past years' performance. For a reason I can't diagnose, the chart is extending the current value for this year into the infinite future (see screenshot).
This is especially confounding because I copied this widget from last year's dashboard and it didn't do this last year. I presume I've flipped some switch somewhere. Any ideas?
I've done this when there was an incorrect MOS date on a perf (and schools show). Another more recent time was when there was a Auxilary Merch performance (programs I think) that was dated 31-12-2022 and wasn;t filtered out proerly and was causing weird lines going off to the end of the year.
Also order days prior metrics have changed so much throughout 15.0 to 15.1 that reseting all the benchmarks (MOS)
It looks like it ends some time finite though. Have you isolated 2023 and done a break by performance or Pricetype to see if you can narrow it down?
I think Heath is leading you in a good direction.
You might duplicate the widget, filter to 2023, and filter to >= 4 from that x-axis field. Then switch to a pivot widget and look into the Constituent IDs or Contribution IDs that might be causing the line to extend into the future.
Many thanks to you both! I think I solved it (and will know for sure when our data refreshes overnight), but in doing so I unraveled another mystery which I had thought to be unrelated. An date error in a campaign setup was messing up this, I think, as well as a goal value elsewhere.
Glad that you have uncovered something.
It's been said before but one of analytics great strengths (I'm going to go with strengths) is shining a light on all the booboo's in our data.
"I think Heath is leading you in a good direction." Take THAT Year 6th report card!
I can now confirm it worked, so thanks Analytics, I guess, for finding that mistake! ;-)
