Throughout the year our team regularly looks at who has or has not renewed their gift this fiscal year. I want to move this to be part of a dashboard in analytics, but I have a few questions.
Right now my dashboard is constituent IDs, sort names, with their SUM([AMOUNT) in columns for this campaign fiscal year and last. I am filtering the widget by campaigns and funds, removing funds from constituents I'm not interested in seeing here.
1) I want to see the difference between fiscal years. I don't know how to make a column in analytics that just does the math of column 3-column 4. Or should it be a column where the formula is sum(total FY22)-sum(total FY22)?
2) The analytics that I have shows me owner of a contribution, but I'm actually more interested in the creditee if it exists. Any way I can have it show me the folks who gave through Schwab instead of just Schwab?
This is really challenging if you have a lot of soft credits. Can you just use the Campaign Giving Comparison report? It incorporates soft credits and gives a difference between fiscal years. Not to shut down using Analytics, but we receive too many annual contributions from DAFs or family foundations, we need to use the report over Analytics.
Hi Anthony, adding my two cents since it might be helpful, but I defer to anyone else with more experience. 1) The column I use to accomplish this uses a formula just as you said. I filtered down the values I needed. This is obviously dependent on our structure of campaign and designation so perhaps you can make that translation for yourself.
Here I am asking the pivot table widget to produce a variance of FY22 giving vs FY21 giving
2) according to other posts i've seen, your soft credit issue is pervasive and there doesn't appear to be a solution currently available in the out of box analytics module. I'm not sure if creating a list in list manager and then using that list to filter your data may help in anyway. I have used that method to group donors when I don't have a common data point between them.
We get a lot of DAF and Family Foundation gifts as well, and aside from the Schwabs we know who most are. I wanted to see if there was a work around. And yes, I pull the campaign giving comparison report usually. I was hoping to see how to put it in analytics instead, knowing that it might not totally work.
