Calculating performances with specific remaining capacity

Hi everyone,

I’m still a novice at creating the more complex custom formulas in Analytics, but am hoping that someone here might not mind helping me figure out what type of formula to write to solve what I think is a fairly easy question.

If I were trying to build a widget to show – for one entire season – how many performances have fewer than 100 remaining seats with the Seat Status “available,” how would I write that formula? I’ve played around with IF, COUNT, and groupings/aggregations but can’t quite figure it out.

Thank you for any helpful tips!

  • Hi Nathanael,

Thanks for this suggestion! I do already have a widget that shows me the breakdown of Available, Held, Ticketed, and Reserved seats for every performance in our festival season. But I’d love to set up a Pulse to alert our Box Office when our Available seats fall under a certain threshold for any given show, so that they are reminded with more targeted urgency to make any dynamic pricing or VIP comp adjustments necessary. That way, each time a new performance hits the threshold and the count goes up by 1, the Pulse fires an alert to the right staff members.

Is that feasible, or am I looking for something that can’t really be accomplished? I’m still really new to custom formulas in Analytics.

  • I feel like that should be doable, but I can't figure it out! How about this?

I made a formula with some bucketing: (  [Total Seat Count] , [Seat status = available ] )

I can then filter the widget by this value at a given amount (100, 10, whatever). You could even then hide that value and use other metrics, but the filter would remain. Does that work?
