Contributions - Progress to Goal Analytics Dashboard

Hello all,

Longtime Tessitura user, new to creating my own analytics dashboards, no SQL knowledge/access currently. I'm looking to create a dashboard that would give my team our fundraising progress for the year at a glance.

Here are some of the things I would like to see:

  • Total current fiscal year contributions / Goal fiscal year contributions (included in sample contributions dash in analytics)
  • Total current fiscal year donors / last fiscal year total donors
  • Total last fiscal year contributions ytd / goal last fiscal year contributions
  • Total last fiscal year donors ytd / Total prior fiscal year donors
  • Total current fiscal year contributions / goal fiscal year contributions; both broken down by campaign (I think I can modify the first bullet for this on my own)
  • Total current fiscal year contributions / goal fiscal year contributions; both broken down by membership

I'm mostly worried about the year to date parameters and mixing fiscal years within a widget, but am open to any suggestions on any part of this. Does anyone have any experience creating a dashboard similar to this? Tips, suggestions, starting points?

Thanks!

  • Hi Ashley,

All of the DATE dimensions have some "to date" reporting options within them.

    Fiscal Year to Date Flag

A flag to indicate whether a day within a fiscal year is within the "to date" time frame of the current date.

For example, if your fiscal year starts in January, and the current date is October 15, any date from January 1st through the October 14th in any fiscal year is considered in the "to date" time frame and will have the flag set to Y. This allows you to compare the current fiscal year to a different fiscal year as of the current year's date. You can filter or break by dates being before or after where you are in the current fiscal year.

Because data is loaded into Tessitura Analytics nightly, the "to date" time frame always ends yesterday. In other words, you can think of the "to date" time frame as being up to and including yesterday. Also note that, if the current date is the first day of the fiscal year, then all days of the year are considered "to date" (because the data in the system goes up to and through yesterday, the last day of last year).

Using this field as a filter set to include Yes will limit the scope of the data to dates within any included FY that are prior today relative to those FYs.

For the complete list, Tessitura v15.1 Help System - Contributions Cube, expand the CONTRIBUTION DATE dimension.
