Possible Misconfiguration of Analytics (Ticket Paid Amount)

Ticket Paid Amount is supposed to be "The sum of all purchase, refund, and change transaction amounts for a ticket (SLI).", but it appears to only be recording Ticket Change events.  Meanwhile, Purchase and Refund seem oddly out of sync (they do seem to appear for some transactions, I've not been able to track those down yet, though).

  • Hi Gawain,

The Ticket Paid/Purchase/Refund Amounts will only be non-zero on the Ticket Change and Payment rows. Hoping that gets you a step closer.

  • I guess I just fundamentally don't understand finance.  Here's what I know: C-2021-TKFA-21FF represents a series of live events that we began selling and then fully refunded, and also one virtual event that we sold normally.

Credit, Debit and Transaction all check out: We refunded around $73k of tickets to the live events, and sold about $22k of the virtual one.  If "Refund" is zero for an series of events that we had to painstakingly refund, what is it reporting?  And what does "Ticket Paid Amount" = $6244.50 mean in this context?  Should these values only be used with Payment GLs, and are meaningless otherwise?

  • It's difficult to answer these questions in a forum thread and would rather open a support ticket so that we have a complete picture of what the context is. Originally, the Finance cube only had Credit, Debit and Transaction Amount. The other Amounts were added later to simplify the reporting on those values, but they have to roll up on only one side of the transactions in order to avoid double counting, or we'd otherwise need separate Ticket Paid Credit Amount and Ticket Paid Debit Amount values. So the Payment side was chosen, to allow for easy Production revenue by Payment Method reporting, and so without the payments in the mix of a widget, will not be effective values. The exception are the Ticket Change transactions, which don't have a corresponding payment method, and will instead show up on the GLs of the shows (or show and fund) between which the money was moved. That should be what the $6,244.50 represents - the aggregate monies "changed" in and out of the show.
