Can someone explain the difference between these two values.

I believe Amount is the Membership Amount, and Total Amount is the Membership Amount plus any Additional Voluntary Contribution.
What Freeman said. Also onlined here if helpful (expand the Membership Values item). I'll look into what the data dictionary is presenting and see if there's room for improvement there.
