If a show has been postponed by cancelling the original performances in the production season and adding new ones, is there any way to get the 'Production Season Opening Date' criteria in Analytics to point at the first date of the new run rather than the old one?
Filter the widget by Performance Status or Performance Date and the 'Days in Production Season Opening Date' still displays the cancelled date. Filter by 'Production Season Opening Date' and the widget doesn't display at all.
Thanks guys.
Hi Lawrence,
The date is stamped onto performances during the load, and currently does not ignore a cancelled event at the start of a run. One workaround might be to create a new production season for either the cancelled or new run. The opening date is stamped with the date of the first event within a production season ID - so if you create a new production season, it could have the exact same description if that's necessary. If that's not viable, then what's your goal in using that date in this case? Maybe there's a different approach.
In a separate dashboard I use the Opening Date criteria to generate the number of days and weeks to the show, as well as the daily/weekly revenue needed to target.
Of all our postponed shows it's only Book of Mormon this issue is occurring with. I understand that's because whereas in postponing all the other shows Ticket Office simply edited all the performance dates, for the first week of Mormon only these shows needed to be fully cancelled due to calendar congestion.
I think we'd rather creating a new production season if it can be avoided, but if that's the only way around so be it.
Thanks, Chris. Much appreciated.
It's not especially elegant, but if you changed dates of the cancelled perfs anyway, still leaving them offsale and in a cancelled state, that would resolve it without putting them in a separate production season.
You may also be able to switch from the convenience of Opening Date, to MIN days/weeks between NOW() and the Performance Date, with a widget filter that excludes Cancelled. The DIFF function will respect that filter and exclude those events, and the MIN should result in the time between now and the first On Sale event.
Not elegant, but easy and effective. That never even crossed my mind. Thanks very much.
Thanks, Chris. Works a charm.
