Budget Amount

Greetings from the Dallas Zoo!

I am working on a dashboard for our Operations Officer. I am stumped with how to best include budgeted amounts to measure our performance against. Here is where I am now:

  • Since the Dallas Zoo is a General Admission institution, we have adapted to Tess by having one performance for each day.
  • We budget monthly goals, and have put those budget amounts in the performance on the first of each month
  • When I try and sum the “Budget Amount” from the Performance Detail dimension, the result is way to large
    • I need to use some kind of multi-pass aggregation to narrow results down to what I am aiming for, but am stumped.

How do I get Analytics to return the budget amount only once, instead of once for each resulting row? As as stop-gap, I've set the formula to return only the max budget amount-- but this only works when we are looking at each month individually.

I have attached my .dash file if anyone is interested. Here's a screenshot of the area causing me the trouble:

Thanks!

  • Hey Shannon,

We currently do not do Budget Amounts, but yesterday I added $60,000 to both our November and December daily admission performances. This morning I was able to create a pivot showing two $60,000 budget amounts.

I used a combination of Multi-pass Aggregation and Filtered Values concepts to get it to display a total budget amount of $120,000.

    I hope this helps.
