Fund Activity Report to Analytics

Hi all,

Has anyone built out an Analytics version of the Fund Activity Report? One of my colleagues wants to be able to see the total received amount and total number of transactions both by fund and by constituent type for a given posting date range. In trying to recreate the Fund Activity Report in Analytics, I can't seem to get the numbers to match up. Any idea what might be causing this? I've already added a transaction type filter to match the transaction types included in the Fund Activity Report, but the numbers I'm getting in Analytics are about $6k and 60 transactions less than when I run the Fund Activity Report. Are there other filters I'm missing? Thanks!

  • It is not necessarily possible to reproduce the Fund Activity Report in Tessitura Analytics, as the way the data is secured in the report is different than how the data is secured in Tessitura Analytics. If control groups are involved, it probably won't be possible to line these up, unless the users involved have permission to all the control groups. That, plus the not-live nature of Tessitura Analytics makes it likely the two will generally differ slightly.

  • I share the frustration with this. We have no control group issues and I finally determined that I needed to use the Finance Cube to get this to match up better. One challenge that I have had that I cannot seem to figure out is how to deal with Contribution Adjustments. They all show up as positive, which double-inflates the number in many cases. Anyone have any insight on how to overcome that?

  • Mark, unfortunately I don't have any insight, other than I have exactly this same issue - I love the functionality and flexibility of Analytics, but I am unable to trust any of the numbers because I can't filter the contributions based on Contribution Adjustments. If anyone has a solution, this would be a huge help!

  • Hi Mark and Ryan,

While the Debit and Credit Amounts in the Finance cube are always positive, the Transaction Amount and Contribution Amounts are not. In the context of the Transaction Amounts, there will of course be 2 sides to the transaction, and the one associated with a Payment Method will reflect the +/- of the adjustment. The Contribution Amount values are also associated with the Payment Method side of the transaction, and also reflect the sign of the adjustment.
