Dashboard to run from July 1 to dashboard run date

Hello everyone,

Has anyone figured out how to set a date filter to run from a fixed date...say July 1 to the current date?

  • Hi Chris,

Select July 1 as the From date, and Latest Date as the To date. Note the filter description at the bottom left is then simply "From July 1".

If there're no future dates, then this simple approach should work. If there are future dates, then those dates will also be included with this filter... to address that, brace your index-finger and walk with me.

Switch the date filter type to Time Frame and select Days and then Last 360 Days. This will limit the filter to "before today". Then click the options menu for the filter and select Set and Background Filter. A little funnel icon will appear at the upper right of the filter. Now edit the filter where we unfortunately only have access to a List type filter. Take a deep breath and uncheck all the dates prior to July 1, 2019. I set this up yesterday and 8-Aug was not visible in the widget filter. I checked on it today and sure enough 8-Aug is now included in the filter, and the 8-Aug performance that wasn't in the widget yesterday, appeared in the widget today.

    Form follows function, right? Best,
    Chris

So...I followed the instructions and sadly...it didn't work for me. In fact, it's showing me more information than I want. I am using the order date filter.

  • I notice that the dashboard filter is on order date, while the pivot tables are grouping by performance date. That could lead to seeing performance dates in the future. As to your fiscal year question... yes. Have a look at the pre-build Finance dashboard's Recognized Income widget. It filters on current fiscal year prior to today. It does this with PERFORMANCE DATE Fiscal Current Year Offset = 0, combined with PERFORMANCE DATE Date set to Last 360 Days (but this was updated it to 999 days in the Advanced view to be sure and cover the full year).

  • I think the oatmeal sitch combined with my excitement that this was possible had me thinking of the wrong dates to use. Once I used the correct dates...that being performance dates....it worked as expected. Thank you much my friend.
