Hi All,
We have recently started using custom fields in Plans to keep track of planned gifts to our comprehensive campaign. We just set Custom_01 to be currency and gave it a name: Recorded Planned Gifts. Does anyone have any ideas on how to integrate this into Analytics? I'm currently using the default Plans dashboard with a campaign filter.
Thank you!
Hi Megan,
If you add a Widget and select "Custom 01" from Plan Custom Fields for your data, that should (in theory, I've not used it personally) allow you to reference that data in Analytics.
Let me know how that goes!
Thank you,
Brian
Hi, I tried that, but it's only recognizing the field as a character string, even though it's set as currency in the keywords table, so I can't sum the amounts contained in those fields.
Hi Megan! I need to add a custom field to my Plans. Is there a documentation page that shows me how to do that? Thanks and happy holiday weekend to you and the team. -Janet
Hi! If you have access to the system tables, go to T_Keyword and use row 507. It should be called Custom_01 or something similar. Just modify the description, data type, and edit mask. In my case, we're using it to keep track of planned gifts so the data type is currency and the edit mask is dollars. If you don't have access to the system tables, your sys admin should be able to do this quickly.
It's a tiny bit more involved if you want to add more than one custom field, but it's the same concept. There are up to 10 available for use.
We actually use three custom fields, so it looks like this:
Here is some documentation: https://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System/Content/System_Tables/Custom%20Fields.htm
This might be silly, but is the Edit Mask for your custom element set to Dollar? It was the only thing I could think of that might affect the reading of the data.
I have some custom elements built for use in Plans as well, but they're all string data and reference data from T_KWCODED_VALUES that allow for user selection. In one of the cases, it helps us filter donors by the fiscal quarter in which they typically renew their gift. When I select that custom column into the widget, it displays the values from the reference table.
Hi Megan, Thank you for this post. We are having a similar issue where the custom_1 field isn't Summing and is being treated as a string in our plans cube in Analytics. I have the Data type as Currency and the Edit Mask as Dollar. Is there anything else that we might be missing that you know of? The field itself works just fine in the client.
