Analytics: Renewal Rate

I'm looking to build a widget to show our membership renewal rates in analytics. The goal is to be able to get something that could break down what percentage of our members who had an expiration date within a range have renewed prior to their expiration, have renewed during their lapse period, are currently in their lapse period but haven't renewed, and a final segment for those who have left their lapse period and haven't renewed.

Currently, I've got a Column Chart with Calendar Month for the sole category, Total Membership Count for the sole value, broken out by Current Status.

My problem is that it's counting by memberships, not constituents. So if I renew my membership, it counts my (now inactive) membership as well as my (now active) renewed membership, so I'm counted as both an inactive and an active member.

I've tried changing the value to # of unique Constituent ID, but that doesn't seem to change anything. I've also changed the Break to New/Renew/Reinstate status, but that doesn't capture renewal rate, it captures how many of my active memberships are renewals.

Any ideas?

  • Hey Tim,

Have you looked at the Membership Renewals dashboard in the Tessitura Dashboards folder under Memerships? You might be able to manipulate this dashboard to give you the information you want. All you have to do is duplicate it and then you can adjust all the widgets to what you need.

  • I did, yes. The formula they give, though, is Total Renewed Count / Total Membership Count, which would tell me what percentage of my current memberships are renewals as opposed to how many of my expiring memberships have renewed, and doesn't get into the other detail I'm hoping to achieve of renewing prior to expiration vs during lapse period vs not at all. In my attempts, though, I had moved away from the Months In Date, which is probably better than the Calendar Date I was using, so this was helpful!

    Thank you for the suggestion!
