Saving Widgets to List

Hi Madeline,

The intention with the _Constituents dashboard is that it be used as a jump to target on any dashboard widget from which you might want to save a list. So with a widget that lists constituents and their recent contributions, you might set that widget to have a Grand Total and a jump to target of _Constituents. Then clicking the Grand Total opens the _Constituents dashboard with all constituents from your widget, and allows for the action of saving those constituents to a list.

The save to list feature is only available from a dashboard named exactly, "_Constituents". I will say, though not documented... intentionally... it's possible to add fields to the _Constituents dashboards, or to build your own _Constituents dashboards. Multiple dashboards can have the same name so long as they are in different folders - although that can make picking the correct one more difficult:

Either way, there are additional requirements for the _Constituents dashboard to work properly when saving to a list:

• The first column in the pivot table must be the Constituent IDs to be saved to the list.
• The pivot table must have exactly 1 row per constituent in the results set. For example, if you throw on Fund or Campaign Fiscal Year, and a constituent has results for more than one Fund or Campaign Fiscal Year, then that constituent will have multiple rows in the pivot table, and the list created from that widget will be incorrect in Tessitura. So the best thing is to limit yourself to using fields from the CONSTITUENT field collection (see a list of those fields in on this page in the Tessitura Help System by clicking on + Constituent Dimension). This requirement does allow for including Values in the pivot table (eg. [Total Balance Amount]).
• The pivot table may not have any fields on Columns. Any list created from such a widget will be incorrect in Tessitura.

Reviving this one -- what's the prescription if the "Save to List" button does absolutely nothing when you click it? I feel like I've got all the bullet points above. I'm jumping to _Constituents. I just have constituent ID Row and count of constituent ID value with a grand total to jump to the full list, as suggested above. I click the button and it will not respond.

This is likely in need of a support request. It implies a communication issue between your Analytics session and the Tessitura API.
