I have an Extraction for a certain time period - 10/1/2017 through 12/31/2018 - that looks at Total giving >= $150. When I create a list from that extraction and then use an output set to get the results, I'd like the output element "total giving" to be the total giving for the time period (10/1/2017-12/31/2018). Not total giving for the constituents history with our organization. How can I accomplish this?
Hi Debra, I'm not sure about previous versions, but in v15 you can add date filters to many output set elements. Add your element (e.g. Contribution Total Giving) and then click the Output Filters tab. Click on the filter icon that appears below the element you want to filter and scroll to Contribution Date and put in the dates you're looking for. To make sure you're getting what you want out of your search, you can always add a second iteration of that element without the filter so that you can compare total giving with giving for that period. Here's an example of what your output might look like:
Thanks so much for that help Lauren! That feature looks really cool in V15. I tested it in our test environment. The one question I have is why would constituents output with a blank in total giving if I put a filter with a date and an amount of >= $150. Any thoughts?
Hey Debra - I think that's because the filter is operating on the output set element, not on the list itself. So if you've got someone in the list who doesn't meet that criteria, they'll show up but with nothing in that field.
Yes, this is correct. Thanks Lauren! The Output Filters affect the values in the output, but will not filter anyone out of the list results.
