Hello colleagues out there in Tessitura-land!
I am hoping for thoughts about how to comb through the system in search of duplicates (mostly created by users via our website). We currently have track all dupes we find over the phone or via email and set up merges daily. What I am seeking is specifically database hygiene project(s) during downtime for my box office staff and to help us cut mailing costs.
Many thanks in advance (and an equal amount of apologies if this topic was posted on recently- - my searches didn't turn up much of anything)
Hi Marissa,
Do you use the merge duplicates utility in the application? We have a team of about 6 staff who monitor this and we were able to trim down our large list of duplicate records in only a couple months. Now it is just ongoing maintenance. It works pretty well and we also use CSI's to keep track of what merges are scheduled/competed.
I am not certain what the "merge duplicates utility" is? Could you elaborate a little further, please? Is it in reports and utilities? Is it the tool inside merge constituents at the top, where it suggests possible duplicates?
Ah yes, I should have been more clear. Its the "potential duplicates" tool inside merge constituents at the top. And you can adjust the Duplicate Matching field in T_Defaults to tell the procedure what records to look for.
Our staff use that as the base line and keep that list as clean as possible.
