Solution #360 is the Renewal Incentives utility. This SSRS utility has been provided courtesy of Science Museum of Minnesota and deals with the issue of offering extra membership time if someone renews before their current membership expires. It updates system data, when run in update mode, along with generating an output. Its purpose is to find the people who have the selected level of membership and have renewed, sometime within the selected date range, before their most recent membership expired. In the utility parameters you can select for things such as the member's current membership level, their newest level, through which channel they bought their newest membership, etc. When run in update mode the utility will add an extra month (or months, depending on you parameter setting) to their newest membership expiration date, add a note in that membership about the date extension, cancel their acknowledgement letter (in other words the cards that will have the wrong expiration date after the report is run), add a CSI about the expiration date extension and close that CSI, and add a CSI to request new cards (which will have the new expiration date). You can run the report in Review Only mode if you would like to preview the results before applying all of the changes and notes.
While the Network does not endorse the accuracy of the utility, you are encouraged to test it and determine if it will work well at your site.
