Hi All,
Welcome to the Self Service BI group here on Tessitura Network.com
So we are all about self service so take a moment to make sure that you are subscribed to the group's email feed.
Please also take a moment to answer these two questions.
1. What self service BI tools are rocking your world right now?
2. What data analysis question would be most helpful for you to solve?
My name is Brian Ramos, and I am the Development Operations Manager for Seattle Opera.
I am currently exploring Microsoft's Power Query and Power Pivot to create excel based dashboards and analysis tools directly out of Tessitura. To aid in that, I am trying to develop standard SQL views from Tessitura, which can then be pulled in and manipulated if need be. The tables themselves are great, but it is often easier to have names and descriptions in the various tables instead of reference numbers.
I'm also exploring what can be done with some statistical software such as SPSS (or PSPP for a free alternative) to help determine the drivers, and how much they drive, of various levers of contributed revenue. With these in place, I'm hoping to build some predictive and prescriptive analytic tools that tie directly to live data out of Tessitura.
Brian, It's great to have you on the Self-Service BI group here on TessituraNetwork.com.
We are also looking at some of the same things you are considering.
You might find this Video from Marco Russo of interest. It describes from a IT professionals point of view the use of database views for publishing data for internal self service BI initutives.
What data views have you created so far?
