Version 11 and Emails

I have a Version 11 and email related problem that I keep running into and hoping someone can help me solve it via list builder/output set builder. 

I only want people who meet my criteria who have an email address. However the household may meet my criteria but the email itself lives on the affiliated individual. How do I account for that to make sure that I'm getting an output of records with email addresses not just records that meet my criteria but have affiliated records with emails?

  • Levi is right on track here.  If the email is on the individual but the other data, like ticket history, is on the household, you check search household on the other criteria and you’ll get the individual.  If the household has its own email, you’ll get the household too, but if the household does not have an email then you won’t get the household.

  • Thanks! I've tried both Levi and Lucie's ways and I'm still not certain I'm getting the right people. I've managed to get the affiliated individuals on my list and dropped the households. However there was some individuals that dropped that shouldn't have. 

    It's making me question if my email inclusion criteria isn't 100% accurate. To get people WITH emails I want to say in my list:

     

    eaddress greater than or equal to 0

    primary eaddress IN yes

     

    At least that's how I've always been doing it. Thoughts?

  • We have a similar situation trying to email ticketbuyers (currently we grab any primary eaddress related to the account that bought the tickets - at least until we clean up our email act!)

    We have basic lists that grab ticketbuyers for a show, using none of the options at the bottom of the criteria window. Then for sending emails, we create another list:

    List In (Value:TicketbuyerList) (also check "Search Household")
    EAddress Like %@%

    then at bottom, Add Individuals (Affiliation Type:Adult Member)

    We let the output set find the primary email addresses (We also use Wordfly for emails).

    Its probably not perfect, but it may lead you to something.
