Okay, so is it correct that the only way to add a second person/individual (typically the wife) is to create a new individual record for the wife, then create a household record and then affiliate the two records to the household?? This seems rediculously long.... And the address information doesn't carry over to the second individual record? This can't be right can it?? I know this seems basic, so I appolgize, if there is a good tutorial on the network, please direct me to it... just seems so silly if these are the steps.

Yes, this option is based on permissions.

What does it mean if that option is greyed out, is that a permissions thing?

Heather-
You can make the Husband’s record a Household record, by going up to Constituents – Household Operations – Covert to Household.
After converting the Husband’s record to a HH record, you can “ADD Affiliate” (A2) with the wife’s information; leaving the Affiliate # blank, as it will auto populate.
I hope this was helpful.

You can also create a new household account, add the existing individual (Name 1) by either entering their ID# or searching with the chicklet, and then finally enter the name of Name 2 in the appropriate fields.
You can also import the address from Name 1 into the new household account as long as you do the import before you save your changes.
Once you have the names and addresses in place saving the record will create two new accounts, one for the household and one for the new individual (Name 2).
