Since there will be an open web batch when migrating, is it safe to just close it thru the back end by updating T_BATCH?
We closed our web batch before migrating. A new batch gets generated as soon as the first order is created on the web.

David,
All batches should be closed before upgrading and you should have a maintenance message on your website while you upgrade so there should be no open web batch once you close the existing one. In general you should never close a batch in the back-end without some advice from support.
Best,
Anna
