I have read the documentation and watch the very informative webcast from Ben Magson about Household operations and believe I understand how this should work, however we are running into a situation that I am not sure I understand the best solution for.
When converting a particular household that was created in error to an individual we have attempted to merge this affiliate to A1 and remove affiliation on A2 AND even tried removing affiliations on both A1 and A2, either way we recieve an invalid entry pop up --
Cannot delete affiliation because one or more affiliate is depending on the Group for the Primary Address. The rule for Require Address is turned on, which enforces a constituent to have at least one Primary Address.(Constituent Address)
Do wejust need to turn this rule off to convert?
Thank you.....
Whenever you want to remove a primary affiliation, you need to ensure that all individuals have their own primary address. Depending on the rules you set up, you might need an address, phone, and/or email address. Simply create a new primary address of the type needed on the individual record and you will be able to delete the affiliation. If you do that, you can then remove all affiliations, change the household into an individual, and merge the records as needed.
You will also need to do this whenever “divorcing” a household, as all records need to have a primary address once one is connected to the record.

You can certainly turn the rule off; or you can just go give the individual their own address. What we do is go into the individual and create the identical address on that account. You just have to do that so that the individual isn't inheriting their address from the household and you'll be fine. I think this error should go on some kind of "greatest hits" conversion issues board, because I am clearly not the only person who was initially flummoxed by it!
